Living God’s Love: reflections for connection in a disconnected time.

What is this?

We started this blog at Calvary Moravian Church in Allentown, PA in the middle of March, 2020, during what was called a 2 week closure of all non-essential activities due to the coronavirus. Then we didn’t know much more and many of us imagined that we would soon be back to “life as normal.” Yet even in this unknown – and still in our difficult, anxious times today, we wrote ” What we do know is that our motto at Calvary Moravian ends with Live God’s Love. Let’s see how we can do this now.” Let’s see how we can keep doing this….

Right now we are still – in the middle of November – adapting to life virtually (again), with Youtube Livestreams, Zoom meetings, Facebook updates and other technologies being explored for worship. In June (through August) we held outdoor worship services, went back to inperson worship (limited numbers, w/ masks) in September but as of Nov. 15 we returned to all virtual worship (Zoom/Youtube). A whirlwind of logistics, technology and communication. But all in all, we never stopped being church. Thinking about how we grow spiritually together, learn, worship, praise, give thanks, help, reach out to our neighbors etc together!

Last March – we asked – Who’s this site for? Our community of Calvary Moravian church, now disconnected by our physical church closures. Our greater community in Allentown, trying to find itself in a strange and uncertain time. Anyone in this world, affected by suffering and illness, disconnections and isolation, and fear.

How do we Live God’s Love in this time?

.It’s an ongoing conversation.
