Living God’s Love: reflections for connection in a disconnected time.

What is this?

Just a start for a virtual community conversations. It is started by a pastor in Allentown, PA in the midst of a 2 week closure of all non-essential activities due to the coronavirus. Right now, we don’t know more than this. But we do know that our motto at Calvary Moravian ends with Live God’s Love. Let’s see how we can do this now.

Right now we are still – in the middle of May – adapting to life virtually, with Zoom, Facebook and other technologies being explored for worship.

Who’s it for? Our community of Calvary Moravian church, now disconnected by our physical church closures. Our greater community in Allentown, trying to find itself in a strange and uncertain time. Anyone in this world, affected by suffering and illness, disconnections and isolation, and fear.

How do we Live God’s Love in this time?

St. Patrick’s Day – March 17 reflections

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart – Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night – Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light

Lord, we pray that you are our vision and our guiding light in times of uncertainty. As many of us turn to virtual means of communication, let us not forgot those for whom these technologies are not available or possible. With care for ourselves and our community’s health in mind, let us not let fear stop us from loving, from communicating, from reaching out with phone, letter, or kind smile to another. Keep us focused on the present gifts of life itself and even we are physically apart allow us to feel and know your light within. In the words of St. Patrick, who we remember for his faith among the Christian community in 5th century Ireland:

Christ be with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,

Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,

Christ in the mouth of everyone who peaks of me,

Christ in every eye that sees me,

Christ in every ear that hears me. Amen.
